The best business advice I have ever gotten

(and now I wish I know who gave it...)
What's your best piece of advice?

When I graduated college I was extraordinarily lucky to receive this advice. It was:

Make a spreadsheet with names, phone numbers, description, and where you met someone. Reach out to everyone you know who might want to help you and tell them what you want to do. Ask them who they know who you should talk to. Write everyone's name down.

Whenever you make a good contact, write them on the spreadsheet. You will forget them. Then you can search the spreadsheet for keywords, make lists of people to reach out to, etc.

I've got 1300 people on mine, most of whom I would never remember unless my mind was jogged (and then can remember given the context of the people who were above and below them.)
